Course Info

Under new ownership, Blue Heron Hills kicked off its 2010 season as a semi-private golf club with competitively-priced season memberships and daily fee golf.  Blue Heron Hills offers a unique playing experience for golfers of all abilities with its interesting golf architecture and multiple natural hazards.

The course layout challenges golfers to select the right club and balance risk and reward on every shot. Each hole is unique, with no parallel fairways. The distinctive features of the course include large tees and greens, bentgrass fairways, and an abundant natural water supply that keeps the course in prime condition throughout the season.

Built in 1987, the golf course was designed by Peter Craig and Dick Bator, with advice from developer Nelson Leenhouts and a team of landscape architects, environmentalists, and golf professionals, including Jack Nicklaus. As a championship-level course, Blue Heron Hills has been a regular venue for exhibitions, charity tournaments, and top amateur competitions.

Gracing the spectacular grounds of Blue Heron Hills, is a beautiful two-story clubhouse designed by architect Robert Macon.  The clubhouse features a banquet facility on its upper level, and a pub-style restaurant, pro shop and oak-appointed locker rooms on its lower level.

The Pub at Blue Heron Hills is open to the public and offers a full lunch and dinner menu in a comfortable and friendly atmosphere.  With a bar, fireplace and outdoor patio overlooking the manicured grounds and lakes of Blue Heron Hills, it is the perfect place for patrons to enjoy a satisfying meal and casual conversation.

The spacious Ball Room at Blue Heron Hills can accommodate up to 250 people and is an elegant setting for a wedding reception, holiday party or golf outing. The Ball Room features a formal dining room, dance floor, bar, and outdoor balconies overlooking beautiful Windward Lake.

In addition to daily fee golf and season memberships, golfers have the opportunity to participate in golf leagues, tournaments, and lessons.

This course is public now? I am glad that I found out so I can plan my next golf outing at Blue Heron Hills Golf Club. I have always wanted to play there – I heard it is an absolutely beautiful course, and based on the pictures it seems that way!!!

I played Blue Heron Hills Golf Course on Aug 7, 2010 with friends who stayed on as members. We were greeted warmly by the staff, from the starter, to the bag room and pro shop staff , even the rangers all make you feel welcome. Pace of play was not too bad, just shy of 4 and half hours for the round. Overall, the course is in nice shape, however, it’s not anywhere close to the conditions it had enjoyed as a private club. The greens are quite a bit longer and slower, and it looks like they did not cut in new hole location for the weekend. Also, the moss problem on hole #2 seems to be back. Hopefully, the superintendent will get that under control. Blue Heron Hills is too good a golf course to be lost to neglect. The facilities are still quite nice and a lot of the previous staff are still there. If you haven’t yet made it out to Blue Heron Hills, you should make a point to do so soon.

  3. The Saturday Golf Association (SGA) / Rochester Tour week #23 which is referred as the SGA’s Year End banquet was at Blue Heron Hills CC ( a true Country Club atmosphere) .. 98 players played this past Saturday in a shot gun format with a nice dinner and HUGE raffle and multi door prizes. Tee to green the course was in SUPER shape; weather was beautiful for 9-10 holes, some winds picked up, but with the course layout of trees and houses, help the average golfer. BHHCC greens are one of the best rolled and cut greens in the golf community and they were producing great rolling opportunities for birdie all day long! It has a fabulous hole setup, with no side to side holes and houses surrounding some of the holes, which I believe makes a golf course fun to play. The SGA will return in 2011 on tour and declare BHHCC as the annual fall classic venue in Oct. forever. BHHCC it’s a must for Tour and golfers in Rochester! Eric G. as a new golf course owner is doing a great job for the community and also for the golf industry – The Home of the Club Champions of Champions for sure!
