Course Info

Ravenwood opened in 2002 and is one of the most beautiful courses with its amazing bunkers and gorgeous bent grass fairways. Finishing your round on the eighteenth hole could not be better. It is a par 5 that bends slightly to the right. It has 10 bunkers, 7 of which surround the green making the hole one of the most challenging. It shares a beautiful view of the clubhouse that sits within large beautiful trees right behind a natural amphitheater created by a hill.

Ravenwood offers some of the best golf conditions as well as some challenging holes. They have hosted many tournaments and have been home to the New York State Men’s Amateur Golf Championship. Ravenwood’s strength is putting on golf events. From the great conditions and challenging course to the GPS in every cart, they do them well.

The GPS is one thing that really makes this public course stand out. It shows you yardage to the pin, your scorecard and can even incorporate a leader board should you be playing in a tournament.

The practice and banquet facilities at Ravenwood are some of the finest in the Rochester area. The practice facility is one of the largest with a 12,000 square foot practice green and a golf range that is lit until 10pm. They offer seven target greens and a special short game practice area which includes bunkers. The newly renovated banquet facility, with the ability to hold up to 200 guests, is beautiful with large sliding glass doors that open to a garden with a lighted waterfall. In addition to the beauty of the greens and facilities, the staff and management are very courteous and helpful as well.

Better golf – Better Value! Brockport Golf Club which opened in 1960 features a par 72 which plays over 6,700 yards from the tips. Rated the 3rd toughest course in Monroe County by the RDGA (Rochester District Golf Association), Brockport Golf Club will challenge all levels of play. The front side is very tight and undulated. You need to sharpen up on your wedge game to master this side. The backside is for the power players so dust off the driver. The course is varied with holes that are short and long, flat and hilly. A good score will be recorded by anyone who can hit a variety of crisp shots to accommodate each hole, and approach shots that will hold the greens. Number 14 is the #1 handicap hole and finishing 18th hole nicknamed “The Monster “ is a 555 yard par 5 where the wind always affects each shot. No matter the weather conditions outside Brockport Golf Club has a heated-driving range helping to keep your game sharp all year long.

Brockport Golf Club is considered “The Best Value” in the Rochester Area by bringing the private course conditions to a public course at a fraction of the cost. All carts or equipped with GPS systems. If you love to walk while playing don’t worry you can rent a hand held GPS system by Izzo for only $3. Their exceptional clubhouse facilities at Brockport Golf Club starts with the large banquet hall inside the clubhouse that seats 250 and is ideal for large outings and private parties. They also have the Panoramic Room, a smaller banquet hall that seats more than 125 inside with 75 more on the outside deck overlooking this beautiful course. Under new ownership, Blue Heron Hills kicked off its 2010 season as a semi-private golf club with competitively-priced season memberships and daily fee golf.  Blue Heron Hills offers a unique playing experience for golfers of all abilities with its interesting golf architecture and multiple natural hazards.

The course layout challenges golfers to select the right club and balance risk and reward on every shot. Each hole is unique, with no parallel fairways. The distinctive features of the course include large tees and greens, bentgrass fairways, and an abundant natural water supply that keeps the course in prime condition throughout the season.

Built in 1987, the golf course was designed by Peter Craig and Dick Bator, with advice from developer Nelson Leenhouts and a team of landscape architects, environmentalists, and golf professionals, including Jack Nicklaus. As a championship-level course, Blue Heron Hills has been a regular venue for exhibitions, charity tournaments, and top amateur competitions.

Gracing the spectacular grounds of Blue Heron Hills, is a beautiful two-story clubhouse designed by architect Robert Macon.  The clubhouse features a banquet facility on its upper level, and a pub-style restaurant, pro shop and oak-appointed locker rooms on its lower level.

The Pub at Blue Heron Hills is open to the public and offers a full lunch and dinner menu in a comfortable and friendly atmosphere.  With a bar, fireplace and outdoor patio overlooking the manicured grounds and lakes of Blue Heron Hills, it is the perfect place for patrons to enjoy a satisfying meal and casual conversation.

The spacious Ball Room at Blue Heron Hills can accommodate up to 250 people and is an elegant setting for a wedding reception, holiday party or golf outing. The Ball Room features a formal dining room, dance floor, bar, and outdoor balconies overlooking beautiful Windward Lake.

Opened in 1968, Wild Wood Country Club uses much of the hilly wooded terrain and meandering creek to create one of the most picturesque courses in the area. Wild Wood has the look of a more expensive private facility without the cost. Cart paths have been added throughout the course, allowing play from April through November.  Drainage has been improved and irrigation has been enhanced to create one of the areas finest courses. Beautiful Hole Layouts

This is a beautiful course containing many large tree’s, very luscious green grasses and challenging water hazards. The back nine of Wild Wood has some of the most beautiful holes in the Rochester area.

One of the best holes includes number 15. It has a sharp dog-leg with water that streams up the entire left side of the fairway and surrounds the green.

Improved Irrigation and Drainage

Wild Wood has improved the irrigation system and drainage allowing for a drier course but keeping bright green fairways and greens. The course has a creek that winds its way through the back nine making water in play on every hole except the 10th and 18th. Putting in a state of the art drainage system was key to keep this area dry. Wild Wood also added cart paths throughout the course.

Challenging Golf for a Great Price

Wild Wood is right up there in the caliber of golf as other top public golf courses in Rochester. If you have a flexible golf schedule you can find some great deals to play this great course.
