Course Info

Bristol Harbour Resort, recognized by Golf Digest and The American Golfers Guide as one of the top public facilities in the state, is a premier, full service destination golf facility. This Robert Trent Jones design is just as well known for its championship layout, as it is for the amazing views of Canandaigua Lake and the surrounding hillsides. The well-maintained course offers a sharp contrast between the front and back nine. While the front nine consists of open views of the lake, the back nine is cut through the woods and offers beautiful scenery of the rolling Bristol hills. The best part about the course is that although it is challenging, it is designed to be playable for all skill levels.

Bristol Harbours also offers a full-service pro shop and staff that can accommodate the needs of every visitor, from the individual golfer, to those attending corporate outings and charity events.  Planning your next golf event is made easy when using their assigned personal event coordinator to assist in all aspects of your event, from the pre-planning stages through the post tournament wrap-up.

The practice facility, complete with grass and artificial tees, putting green, chipping area and bunkers, opens one hour prior to the first tee time so getting loose prior to your round is never an issue. In addition to their top-notch practice facility, Bristol Harbour Resort offers golf schools taught by PGA Professional Greg Mulhern.  Clinics and golf schools are designed to teach both adults and juniors and are designed to improve your long and short game. All schools and clinics are available throughout the summer.

Home of the “Rain Guarantee” Bristol Harbour will give you a rain check equal to the value of 2 tiers (a $15 value) if is 1/8th inch of rain or more during your round. You will get the rain check even if you complete your round and it is valid for 9 months.

As a member of the Finger Lakes Golf Trail, you can play Bristol Harbour, Greystone, Mill Creek and Ravenwood for one low price. The card never expires and is valid anytime Monday – Thursday, Friday before 11 a.m., and Saturday – Sunday after noon.

With several improvements to enhance the course’s natural challenges and increase its playability, Bristol Harbour Resort not only offers a sensational layout but is one of Rochester’s most beautiful courses as well.

GolfLocal.com Invitational – Golf Tournament

Webster East Golf Course was the home for the GolfLocal.com Invitational 4-person scramble on September 25th.

About 60 golfers and 10 volunteers took part in the tournament aimed to help raise money for the Wilmot Cancer Center. “Cancer has affected many people in my life and the lives of many others, so it only seemed fitting to donate to such a great organization,” said co-founder of GolfLocal.com Cody Dalton.

Good weather and great turnout

GolfLocal.com Invitational Putt“The turnout was great and the tournament ran smoothly” said co-founder of GolfLocal.com Eric LaBarr who help to organized the tournament. All the teams had smiles on their faces and really enjoyed the golf course.

“We got a lot of help this year,” said Dalton who also helped to organize the tournament. More than 10 local businesses donated to the event. Prizes included overnight hotel packages, golf equipment such as putters and bags from Izzo, rounds of golf at multiple area golf courses, and other great prizes.

The tournament was open to any golfer in the area, friends and family and members of the EWGA (Executive Women’s Golf Association) and Genesee Valley Men’s League graciously stepped up to support the cause.

“I really enjoyed the tournament and enjoy playing at Webster East,” said Robert Gelb in the clubhouse after the golfers finished for the day. “This was our first year playing, and I know we will come back next year.”

2010 GolfLocal.com Invitational Champs

2010 GolfLocal.com Invitational ChampionsThree teams came in at 9 under par for a 63. To determine the winning team, it came down to a putt off which continued for 3 rounds. The team including Garry Hurwitz, Jamie Hurwitz, Randy Hurwitz and Robert Gelb came out victorious.

“The tournament was well organized, the food was great, and it was a great day,” said Keith Stein.

Awards were given out for the longest drive and closet to the pin for both women and men. The men’s longest drive winner was Jamie Hurwitz and the women’s winner was Kirsten Mortensen.

Changes Plentiful At Braemar Country Club & More Too Come

Posted by Golf Local On August - 18 - 2010

Earlier this summer, Braemar Country Club was purchased by brothers Steve & Walt Pavlovych of Hilton, NY.  After spending most of their lives in the Tool & Die Industry, they were ready for a challenge; and a challenge is what they got.

Braemar Country Club always had the potential to be an elite course, but after many years of neglect, the course became run down and outdated. That didn’t stop Steve and Walt though.  They saw something special in this golf course and knew that with some time and hard work they could bring it back to the type of course it should have been all along.

Their first order of business was to make improvements that would present an immediate impact. The brothers started out by fixing the run down sand traps that encompass much of the course. They removed all the old sand, increased the size of the traps, and edged around them. They added over 200 tons of professional grade golf course sand making them more playable and visually appealing. Walt stated that the golfers were very appreciative of the new sand but joked that they now would have to improve their game to hit out of “real” sandtraps. Michael Leahy of Walworth said “I love the new sandtraps. The bright white sand gives the course a totally different look.”

The next order of business was to trim all the low hanging branches on each tree throughout the course.  The goal was to help speed up play, eliminate the number of loss balls for their customers, and give the course a more cleanly and maintained appearance. Much of this work was performed by the high school and college students that work for Braemar Country Club each season. The brothers also added flower beds near the tee boxes, filled in the low spots that were present in each fairway, fixed the pot holes on the cart paths, and turned on the irrigation system that many of the seasonal employees didn’t know even existed.

In just under 2 months, Braemar Country Club has experienced more changes than ever before.  They are currently in the process of remodeling the inside and outside of both the current pro shop and the restaurant. The outside of each building has been painted and cedar shake siding has been added at the peak of each building. The women’s bathroom was completely remodeled with the men’s bathroom to follow. The inside of the pro shop and restaurant was painted giving it a nice clean appearance. Both Walt and Steve said they want to create a private course atmosphere at a public course price. Joe Pagano of Greece loves the changes so far. He said “I have played here more in the last 2 months than I have in the last 5 years. I love the changes and can’t wait to see what the future holds for this course.”

The restaurant/bar is now open Monday thru Friday, offering a fish fry on Friday’s.  With the ability to accommodate 60 -70 people, Walt and Steve are excited to know they have the capabilities to host large gatherings. They also have a hot dog stand that is open throughout the day that offers a quick lunch or snack.  On the course, you can grab an ice cold drink from one of the cart girls that drive up and down the fairways.

Some other future improvements include:

 – 50 new electric carts arriving in mid August
 – Large patio off the 18th green
 – New hole signs and ball washers
 – More ponds and sandtraps
 – Increasing the course length
 – New putting green

With the all current improvements made, we recommend that you visit Braemar Country Club. Their weekday rates are $20 for 18 holes with a cart and only $25 on the weekend. They are currently offering an unlimited play membership for the remainder of the season for only $250. Contact the pro shop at 585-352-5360 to schedule your tee time today.
